Munden Point Park

Today I went to a different park, one I had never been to before, Munden Point Park. It was very pretty, with marshy areas and bald cypress trees, bordering what I believe is Currituck Sound. Also some athletic fields, playgrounds, picnic areas and a disc golf course. I don't know why I've never been here before, probably because we used to walk at a National Wildlife Refuge that was closer, but is now closed to dogs. I discovered the park though the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail. If you live in Virginia and enjoy hiking, you should check it out. Obviously not every park is included, but its a great resource because it combines info from different agencies (NWR, Game and Fisheries, City and State Parks, etc).
Also, I saw a snake today and didn't freak out. I was pretty impressed with myself. No picture of it though, I didn't want to get close enough to find out if it was a cottonmouth (poisonous) or water snake (not poisonous, but still mean). It really was amazing how similar in color it was to the roots of the bald cypress trees.

My Chewie and Panzer. They are so cute, especially when they are tired enough to behave for photos.

Bald Cypress and Marshes along the creeks.

Cypress "Knees." Its thought that they support the trees, which have a shallow root structure.

Some pretty wildflowers growing along the edge of a wooded area.
