Stuck

I am stuck. I am uninspired. I have blank page syndrome. I have not been working on any new illustrations in months (before the holidays?), and I really should start a new design, but I just don't know where to begin. I don't know what I want to draw. Even the long list I keep of possible future illustrations is not interesting me. I feel like I will never have a good idea again.
I know this will pass. I've felt this way before, not usually for so long though. Someday, hopefully soon, most likely in the middle of a completely mundane activity, I will suddenly be flooded with more ideas than I have time for. Until then I will just have to be patient, and not stress about it.

Amococo

Amococo is a big inflatable installation/sculpture that is meant to be walked around inside, It was part of the Boardwalk Art Show here in June (and I'm just blogging it now in August). Obviously I liked it because it was fun and colorful, and it was accessible and non-intimidating, so its good for kids and others who haven't had much exposure to the arts.
You can find more information about it here.

Dwell Magazine

The latest issue of Dwell magazine has some amazingly inspiring homes.
I love how the outdoors merges with the indoors in both these homes.
This might be my dream home, I love the simple Japanese design.

Crocheted Nests

I found the most inspiring book last week, "76 Bugs, Butterflies, and Little Beasts to Knit and Crochet" by Lesley Stanfield. I really love how she used unexpected fibers, like raffia and sparkly yarns.

As you know I've been enjoying creating my own critters lately, my nudibranch and my urchin. I wasn't sure what I was going to make next though.
I made my own nest with hemp. When I was done crocheting my bowl, it looked more like a messy bowl than a nest, so I wove some long pieces of hemp around the outside of the nest, and intentionally left the ends sticking out, like little twigs.

Here is a super cute "Nature Walk" kit at Knit Picks.

Poppytalk Winter Colours Week: White

For "White" I picked some of my favorite snowy photos.
I came across this little snowman on the beach last winter, and it made me laugh. I like its little sandman buddy. And the seagull is almost as big as the snowman.

Eyvind Earle

I've recently discovered the artist Eyvind Earle, admittidly because I saw a box of cards made from his illustrations in the bookstore. He used to be an artist for Disney, and I think he dose beautiful landscapes. I love the stylized view of nature.

Obviously I love this one because of the similar theme in my own "Winter Garden" illustration. I wish I had seen this sooner, because I had difficulty deciding what to do with the background.
